Step 1: Company details

First you choose how you trade. Name and address follow. Everything here ends up on your invoices.

  1. 1Legal form: sole trader or freelancer. For a limited company or partnership, choose the card next to it.
  2. 2First and last name of the owner. For a company, the company name goes here.
  3. 3Business name (optional): the name of your studio, here Fotostudio Lichtblick.
  4. 4Street and house number, with postcode and city below.
  5. 5Country and state. Depending on the country it is shown as canton or county.

Sole trader or freelancer

You work under your own name. With a business name the invoice reads, for example, Fotostudio Lichtblick, Owner: Lena Brandt.

Company

Limited companies, partnerships and other entities trade under the company name. It then stands alone on the invoice.

Change it later

Edit company details, invoice logo and footers at any time under Settings > Invoice. See Invoices.

Step 2: Logo and branding

This is where your shop gets a face. All fields are optional.

  1. 1Shop name: what your shop is called everywhere, in the page header and in emails.
  2. 2Shop logo for your shop. Drag the file into the field or click it.
  3. 3Invoice logo for invoices and credit notes.
  4. 4Favicon: the small image in the browser tab.
  5. 5Continue without logo: you can add logos at any time.
FileRecommendation
Shop logo200 × 60 px, PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP
Invoice logoPNG or JPG, up to 5 MB. SVG does not work here.
Favicon32 × 32 px, ICO, PNG or SVG

Logo with a transparent background

A PNG or SVG without a background looks equally good on light and dark shop designs.

  1. 1Theme card: click the design you like. A tick shows your choice.
  2. 2View live demo opens a sample shop in a new tab.
  3. 3Apply theme & continue saves your choice.

Your content stays

You can switch the theme at any time under Shop design. Products, pages and galleries are kept.

Step 4: Language and sales country

Here you set the language of your shop and the country it sells to. Pixalo loads the matching settings.

  1. 1Default shop language: applies to the shop, all emails to customers and the PDF invoices.
  2. 2Sales country: your shop sells to one country. The country brings currency, price display (incl. or excl. tax) and price format.
  3. 3Loaded settings: Pixalo shows what is loaded for the country, for example USD, prices excl. tax and $12.90 for the USA.
  4. 4You change everything later under Settings > Taxes (sales country) and Settings > Currency.

Selling in the USA

If you choose the USA, the assistant asks for your sales tax base rate. Add rates per state, county or city afterwards under Settings > Taxes.

  2. 2Tax number from your tax office.
  3. 3VAT ID, if you have one.
  4. 4Tax office (optional).
  5. 5Payment methods: the notice shows where to continue afterwards.

Yes, I charge VAT

The normal case. Invoices show net, tax and gross. Pixalo takes the tax rate from your sales country.

Small business

Without VAT, in Germany under § 19 UStG. Your invoices get the legal note automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change my details later?

Yes, everything. Company and tax under Settings > Invoice, language and currency under Settings > Currency, the design under Shop design.

What happens if I skip the wizard?

Nothing is lost. The dashboard keeps showing Continue Setup until the three required steps are done.

Do I need a logo?

No. Without a logo, the shop shows your shop name as text. You can add a logo at any time.

I am a small business. What do I do?

Choose the small business option in step five. Orders and invoices are then created without VAT and with the legal note.

Why does the wizard not ask for my bank details?

Payment methods belong to your shop, not to the setup. Set up bank transfer, cash, card and PayPal under Settings > Payments.
