Discount codes

A discount code lowers the price in the basket. As a percentage or a fixed amount, time-limited, for one job or for all. It works best printed on the parent card.

At a glance

  • A code applies to all jobs or exactly one photo job.
  • The parent cards carry the code you choose in the job under Products & prices.

Create a code

The form has three areas. Only code, discount type, value and start date are required.

  1. 1Basic Information: code, description, discount type and value, active or not.
  2. 2Validity & Limits: valid from and optionally valid until.
  3. 3Settings: job, minimum order amount and usage limit.
FieldWhat you should know
Discount codeYour choice such as EARLY10, or Generate for a five-character code without confusable characters like 0 and O. Upper and lower case do not matter when redeeming.
Discount type and valueA percentage, for example 10%. Or a fixed amount, for example 5 €.
ValidityWhole calendar days. The last day still counts in full. Without an end date the code runs until you pause it.
Event RestrictionAll jobs or exactly one. For the parent cards, choose a code for that job.
Minimum Order AmountThe code only applies from this goods value. Good against discounts on single prints.
Usage LimitHow often the code can be redeemed in total. Empty means unlimited.
Customer RestrictionTies the code to one customer. It only works if their email address is used at checkout. Ideal for goodwill, usually with limit 1.

What the discount applies to

The goods value in the basket. Shipping costs are not included. A fixed amount never exceeds the goods value.

The code on the parent cards

The strongest use: the code is printed on the card the family takes home. You choose it in the job under Products & prices.

In the job under Products & prices, choose the code for the cards.
  1. 1Create a code with the event restriction set to this job.
  2. 2In the job under Products & prices, select the code for the cards.
  3. Print the parent cards. Code and discount appear on them automatically.

No selection, no code

If no code is chosen, the cards print none. Photo cards for photo day never carry a code. In the card designer you place code and discount as placeholders in your own templates.

Reminder before expiry

If the code on the cards has an end date, Pixalo can remind families shortly before. Switch it on in the job under Run time and reminders with Voucher expires. The reminder only goes to families who got their access code by email and have not ordered yet.

How parents redeem

Parents type the code in the basket. Pixalo checks it right away and shows the discount or the reason it does not fit.

  • One code applies per order.
  • A code from another job is rejected.
  • If the goods value is below the minimum order amount, the notice states the missing amount.
