Products
Your catalogue: everything parents can buy individually. You create each product once and use it in as many jobs as you like. Prices, sizes and images live in one place.
At a glance
- Three types: print, digital image file and photo gift.
- Every size or version is a variant with its own price.
- A product only appears in the shop once it is listed under Products & prices in the job.
Under Products you see your catalogue with type, number of variants and price range. The pencil opens a product, the bin deletes it.
- 1New Product opens the product templates. Pick a ready-made product there or create one without a template.
- 2Order: the note explains sorting. Close it with the cross.
- 3Handle: drag a product to the position you want.
- 4Type: print, digital image file or photo gift.
- 5Price range: from the cheapest to the most expensive variant price.
The order matters
Product templates shows ready-to-sell products in common formats, each with an image. Search and families (prints, sets, posters, mugs, digital and more) help you find them. Click an image to enlarge it.
Select formats and colours, check names and prices in the second step and create everything with one click. Every product gets its image automatically. Templates you already created are marked green.
At the top you set name, type and description. On the right the Shop preview shows straight away how parents see the product.
- 1Product name: what the product is called in the shop, in the order and on the invoice.
- 2Product type: the box below explains what the type means for parents.
- 3Description: one or two sentences. They appear in the shop below the name.
- 4Shop preview: with a sample photo. In the shop the child's photo appears.
| Type | Parents get | You deliver |
|---|---|---|
| a paper print in the chosen size | by post or collected via the school | |
| Digital image file | the full-resolution file to download | nothing. The download arrives automatically. |
| Photo gift | an item with the photo, such as a mug or canvas | by post once it is made |
Gross or net?
Every size or version is a variant. A print has 10×15, 13×18 and 20×30 cm, for example, each with its own price.
- 1Photo lab: If you work with a lab, this box shows whether every variant has a lab item. If one is missing, map it or mark the product as your own production with Produce myself.
- 2Default Variant: the tick decides which variant is preselected in the shop.
- 3Size: required for prints. The quick pick fills common formats. Write your own as width x height.
- 4Multi-image sheet: for sheets with several images, such as passport photos or stickers.
- Name: how the variant appears in the shop, for example “13×18 cm”.
- Item number: leave it empty to get the next free number. If you change a number that has already sold, it only applies to new orders.
- Price and old price: the old price appears crossed out next to it. This shows a discount.
- Variant image: optional. Parents then see this image instead of the preview.
Attributes and combinations
Under Attributes you add, for example, size and colour with their values. Generate Combinations creates all variants from them. Existing variants are kept.
Sheets with several images
Rows, columns and repetitions decide how often the photo appears on the sheet. Pixalo rotates the photos so they fit best.
0.00 means free
Parents buy the full-resolution file without a watermark. They create a customer account when ordering and download the images there.
- 1Online payment: after PayPal or Stripe the download is ready immediately. Parents get an email.
- 2Manual payment: for bank transfer Pixalo releases the download as soon as you mark the order as completed.
All photos at once
For a mug, cushion or keyring you show parents a picture of the item. The picture belongs to the variant. Parents see their own photo right next to it.
- 1Add image: opens the media library. Every variant has its own image.
- 2Add variant: for example a white mug and a black mug, each with its own image.
- Product templates already come with images, with sizes for formats.
- The parents' photo appears in the shop next to the item image. The ordered photo is printed.
- Without a variant image, parents only see their own photo.
The Order limit per access code switch limits how often a product can be ordered with one access code. This applies across several orders and accounts. With job codes, all users share the limit.
One gift image per child
You can sell group and class photos as prints or photo gifts only. The file stays with you. Copies exist only on paper.
Switch it on in the job
On the Group photos card in the job, click Print only and confirm. Set the default for new jobs under Website Theme › Photo page.
What parents see
For group photos only prints and photo gifts appear. Image files and packages with image files are missing, and a note explains why. In the gallery the photo carries the label Print only.
Packages
Packages with all digital photos then contain no group photos. In the photo selection group photos are locked. Package prices stay the same.
Running jobs
A product in the catalogue cannot be bought yet. You add it to the job under Products & prices. There you choose for each job what parents see. These settings also affect products:
- Image crop: in the settings you let parents choose the crop for prints themselves. The format sets the aspect ratio. Pixalo rejects crops that are too small, below 150 dpi.
- Packages: bundle several products at a package price under Packages.
Frequently asked questions
Does a new price change old orders?
No. Every order stores prices and names at the time of purchase. New prices only apply to new orders.
Why can't parents see my product?
Usually it is missing from the job. Open the job and add it under Products & prices. Also check that every variant has a price.
Can I use different prices in one job?
Prices apply to the product in all jobs. For different prices, create a second product, for example “Print Nursery”.
What happens when I delete a product?
The product disappears from the catalogue, from all packages and from all jobs. Existing orders stay unchanged. Check your packages first.
Can I change the type later?
Yes. Check sizes and variants afterwards. Existing orders keep the old type.
