Pages & Menus

Pages hold your content: imprint, privacy policy, contact, about us. Menus lead visitors there.

At a glance

  • Imprint, privacy policy, terms and contact are there from the start. The legal texts are templates.
  • A new page only needs a title and an address. You design it in the designer.
  • Menus have a role. The shop designer decides where they appear.

Your pages at a glance

Under Pages you find all pages of your shop with address, status and creation date.

  1. 1New Page: creates a page.
  2. 2Homepage: you design it under Shop Design. It is not a normal page and cannot be deleted.
  3. 3Legal texts are templates: shows as long as a legal text still contains placeholders.
  4. 4Check template: this page still has placeholders in square brackets. Add your details.
  5. 5Designer: opens the page in the shop designer. With Edit you change title, address and visibility.

What is already there

When you register, Pixalo creates four pages and two menus in your shop language:

PageWhat you do
ImprintEnter name, address, contact and tax number.
Privacy PolicyFill in the placeholders, for example your lab, your payment methods and how long galleries are stored.
Terms and ConditionsAdjust delivery time, delivery area and payment deadline.
ContactAlready designed by your theme. Adjust the texts in the designer.

Legal texts are templates

The texts are a starting point, not legal advice. Complete all details and have the texts checked. You are responsible for them. The Main menu holds homepage and contact, the Legal menu the three legal texts. Accounts in the UK and the US get English versions under their own law, see Legal.

Create a new page

Click New Page. You only enter the basics. You design the content afterwards in the designer.

  1. 1Title: the name of the page in the menu and in the browser tab.
  2. 2Slug (URL): the address of the page. Pixalo suggests it from the title and converts accents.
  3. 3Published: without the tick the page stays a draft and cannot be reached in the shop.
  4. 4Add to main menu: puts the page at the end of the main menu.
  5. 5Create & design in the designer: creates the page and opens the shop designer right away.

Rules for the address

Lowercase letters, digits and hyphens are allowed. Each address exists only once. Addresses the shop uses itself are blocked: gallery, cart, checkout, account, appointments, registration and QR access.

Edit a page

With Edit you change title, address and visibility. The example shows a privacy policy that still has placeholders.

  1. 1Notice: stays visible until all placeholders are replaced.
  2. 2Slug (URL): only change the address when needed.
  3. 3Published: remove the tick to hide the page for a while.
  4. 4Designer: this is where you edit the content. Save title and address with Save.
  • New address: menu items follow automatically. Printed or shared links to the old address stop working.
  • Draft: the page cannot be found in the shop or the sitemap. Menu items pointing to it are hidden.
  • Delete: the bin icon in the list. Menu items pointing to this page are removed too.

Frequently asked questions

My new page is missing from the menu. Why?

Either “Add to main menu” was off when you created it, or the page is a draft. Add the page under Menus and publish it.

Can I put gallery, cart or customer account in the menu?

No. These areas are fixed building blocks in the shop header. You switch them on or off in the shop designer.

Are there submenus?

No, menus have one level. For more links create an Other menu and place it in the footer, for example.

Can I change the address of the imprint?

Yes. Menu items adjust. Also update links you sent or printed yourself.
