QR cards

Cards link child and photo. On photo day they tell Pixalo whose photos come next. Afterwards they open the gallery for parents. Print. Photograph. Scan.

At a glance

  • Photo cards are for you on photo day. Parent cards go to the parents.
  • Both carry the same QR code. It matches photos and opens the gallery.
  • A regenerated access code makes old cards invalid. Moving to another group does not.

Three cards, three jobs

Pixalo prints three kinds of cards. Which one you need depends on the moment.

Photo cards

For photo day. Photograph the card first, then the child. Pixalo matches the photos itself afterwards. The cards stay with you.

Parent cards

For the parents. With QR code and access code to the gallery, optionally with a voucher and the child’s photo.

Gallery access card

For client galleries: one card with the code of the whole gallery. See Client gallery.

Photo cards for photo day

Print photo cards in the workflow with QR photo cards or with Photo cards in the group list. Pick the groups and click Print now.

  1. 1Groups: all are selected when the window opens. Deselect what you do not need.
  2. 2Print now: opens your browser’s print dialog.
On the sheetWhat it means
Group card (dark)Comes before each group. Photograph it before the group photo. The photos after it belong to the whole group.
Child cardGroup, name and a large QR code. Ten cards fit on one A4 page.
Black bandShows the photo consent: do not photograph, group photo only or without group photo.
Group photo listIf consents exist, a page follows the cards: who may be in the group photo, who may not, who gave no answer.

Do not hand out photo cards

Photo cards carry no access code and no voucher. For the parents, print the parent cards.

How to photograph with cards

In the workflow, Shooting opens the Photo day instructions. They show in five steps what matters.

  1. 1Print photo cards Take them in list order. A clipboard helps.
  2. 2Photograph the card first Filling the frame, flat and sharp. This photo tells Pixalo whose photos come next.
  3. 3Then take the photos As many photos as you like. Before the group photo, the group card first.
  4. 4Continue with the next card Card, photos, card, photos. Siblings together? Photograph only one card.
  5. Upload Upload all photos, one camera at a time. Matching runs on its own.

So Pixalo can read the code

The QR code should fill at least 15 percent of the image. Even light, no glare. Unclear photos land safely in Matching.

The designs

Each tile shows a preview and the format. Pixalo templates can be edited further as your own with Duplicate & customise.

DesignFormat and use
StandardTen cards per A4 page to cut out. Compact and cheap.
Consent formOne A4 page per child: the consent to sign at the top, the access for parents to tear off at the bottom. Before the first print Pixalo shows a note about the sample template.
CompactHalf page (A5) per child.
Photo access card, colourfulLandscape with the child’s photo. Two cards per page.
Your own templatesEverything you designed as an access card in the card designer.

Pixalo remembers your template

If you pick one of your own templates, Pixalo saves it for this shoot. Next time it is already selected.

Cards with the child’s photo

Templates with a child photo show a photo of the child on each card. Parents recognise their card at once.

  • Which photo: the one you picked in the children list with Use as portrait. Otherwise the child’s first photo.
  • Without a photo: the preview says how many children still lack a photo. With Don’t print cards without a photo you leave them out.
  • Protection: the watermarked preview is printed, never the original.

What happens when scanning

The QR code on the parent card leads to your shop and opens the child’s gallery, without entering a code.

  1. 1Parents scan the QR code with their phone camera.
  2. 2Pixalo checks the code and signs the parents in to the gallery.
  3. The gallery with the child’s photos and the group photos opens.

Siblings

If parents scan a second card from the same shoot, that child is added. Up to five children share one gallery and one basket, if the setting allows it.

When to reprint?

Cards stay valid as long as the access code does not change.

  • Child moved: the card stays valid. It just still shows the old group.
  • Code regenerated: the old card stops working. Reprint or send the code by email.
  • Child added later: print a single card, or take spare cards along. See Children list.
  • Card lost: print nothing. Copy the code from the children list or send it by email.

Frequently asked questions

A child lost their card. Do I need a new code?

No. Send the existing code by email or print the card again.

Why is there no access code on the photo card?

Photo cards are only for photo day. Parents get access with the parent card or by email.

Which printer and which paper?

Any A4 printer will do. In the print dialog choose 100 percent, not “fit to page”, so the QR codes stay sharp.

Can parents use the card without a phone?

Yes. The access code is printed on the parent card. Parents enter it in the shop.
